What is Redeeming Love?

For over 27 years, Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers has touched millions of lives. This modern-day retelling of the Book of Hosea takes place in the mid-1800s during the Gold Rush. In this powerful narrative:

  • Angel, the main character was rejected at birth by her father and later sold into child prostitution by her uncle. Because of her childhood trauma Angel was unable of let go of the lies she believed about herself, others and God and she was unable to receive God’s love and grace. As a result of Angel’s self-hate and false identity she returned to prostitution over and over again.

  • Hosea represents God, a loving Father who never stops loving and pursuing His rebellious daughter.

This story is a beautiful reflection of God's relentless love and how even during our most darkest moments God never stops loving us, pursuing us and believing in us. In 2022, this beloved book was adapted into a major motion picture, further amplifying its timeless message.

Why Join This Study?

For over 10 years, I’ve wanted to lead this book study, and now I would like to invite you to join me on this journey. Together, we’ll:

  • Reflect on God’s original intention, God’s love, God’s true nature, seeing God through life of Jesus.

  • Reflect on our identity of origin—our true identity, seeing ourselves through God’s eyes.

  • Explore how the lies of Angel’s childhood became her identity. How the lies affected how she saw herself, others and God. How the lies affected every choice and decision.

  • Explore how the lies of your childhood became your identity. How the lies affect how you saw yourselves, others and God. How the lies affected every choice and decision.

  • Examine how God rewrote Angel’s identity through His unconditional love and grace.
